This past weekend offered a moment of reflection that extends far beyond the lens of a camera. At dawn on Saturday, I had the privilege of filming alongside Tony McGinn at Nothe Fort in Weymouth, capturing footage of the Standing with Giants: The Falklands Tribute installation. This tribute will be in place throughout the Remembrance period and provides a powerful and moving opportunity for reflection.
The Falklands Tribute features life-sized silhouettes representing the 255 military personnel and 3 civilians who lost their lives during the Falklands conflict in 1982. These silhouettes are arranged throughout the parade ground and ramparts of Nothe Fort, allowing visitors to walk among them and take time to reflect on the people behind the history.
Standing With Giants is a registered charity founded by Oxfordshire artist Dan Barton. Each silhouette is handmade from upcycled materials by volunteers, and previous installations include the remarkable display of 1,475 silhouettes in Normandy for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day in 2024. Their work provides meaningful spaces for remembrance: to pause, to acknowledge sacrifice, and to discuss the impact of service past and present.
For me, this project is personal. Having served in the Royal Navy, Remembrance Day holds weight and resonance. It is a time to honour not only the fallen, but also those currently serving and the families who stand behind them. Creating this video offered a way to pay my respects through the skills and industry I work in every day. I feel fortunate that in my work with Stunning Drones, I can help visually preserve and share moments that deserve to be seen and felt by wider audiences.
The response to the video so far has been incredibly positive, and I am grateful to be able to share it openly now. It is my hope that this visual tribute allows others to connect with the installation and the significance it represents, whether through reflection, remembrance, or conversation.
We remember the fallen.
We stand with those who serve.
We honour the legacy carried forward.
I encourage everyone to take a moment to visit or learn more about the tribute and the work of Standing with Giants:

Whether in business, community, or personal life, Remembrance is not passive, it is an act of respect, understanding, and acknowledgement. And this weekend was a reminder of just how important that act remains.
